Fake Traffic Is Draining Your Telegram Ads and How to Fix It

Why ad platforms optimise on fake clicks and joins, how server-side conversion events fix it, and how Joinvoo and Replyvoo work together for Telegram ads.

You launch a campaign sending people from Meta, TikTok or Snapchat ads to your Telegram channel or bot. The dashboard looks great: cheap clicks, lots of link opens, a decent cost per result. A week later your channel has grown a little, your inbox is quiet, and sales haven't moved.

Where did the money go?

Very often, a meaningful slice went to traffic that was never going to buy: accidental taps, bots, low-quality placements and people who bounced before Telegram even opened. Worse, the ad platform learned from that traffic and went looking for more of it.

This article explains why that happens and how to fix it with server-side conversion events, using Joinvoo and Replyvoo together.

How ad algorithms actually learn

Modern ad platforms optimise toward whatever event you tell them matters. If you optimise for link clicks or landing page views, the algorithm finds people (and things) that click. If you optimise for purchases, it finds people who buy.

The algorithm doesn't know whether a click was a real person who wanted your product. It only knows the signal you send back. So:

  • Optimise on clicks, and you get the cheapest clicks available. Cheap clicks are often cheap because they're low quality.
  • Optimise on a weak event that bots can trigger, and you train the system to find more bots.
  • Send no conversion signal at all, and the algorithm is flying blind.

Ad platforms are excellent students. The problem is what you're teaching them.

Why Telegram makes this harder

When your funnel ends on a website checkout, the platform's pixel can see the purchase. When it ends in Telegram, the trail breaks:

  • The user clicks the ad, maybe opens a landing page, then jumps into the Telegram app
  • The join, the first message and the sale all happen inside Telegram
  • The ad platform's pixel can't see any of it

So most advertisers fall back to optimising on clicks or page views, which is exactly the weak signal that attracts junk traffic.

The fake traffic problem

Not all bad traffic is malicious. Some sources:

  • Accidental taps in feeds and in-app placements
  • Bots and automated clicks that hit links but never become people in your chat
  • Low-intent placements where people click and immediately leave
  • Join-and-leave behaviour where accounts join a channel and drop off without engaging

Each one costs you money. And each one, if counted as a "result", tells the algorithm to bring more of the same.

The fix: server-side conversion events

The solution is to send the ad platform real conversion events that happen after the click, verified on your side, and sent server-to-server.

Server-side events (Meta calls its version the Conversions API, and TikTok and Snapchat have their own equivalents) are sent from a server rather than a browser pixel. That matters because:

  • They're not blocked by browsers or broken by app switching
  • They can report things that happen off-site, like a Telegram join or a deposit
  • You decide which events count, so you can send only events from real people

When you send events like joined the channel, started the bot and replied, signed up, deposited or purchased, and optimise campaigns on those, the algorithm starts finding people who do those things. Real people.

Enter Joinvoo

Joinvoo is Replyvoo's sister product, also built by Zedapex. It tracks what happens after the click on Telegram funnels and sends real conversion events back to the ad platforms server-side.

Joinvoo dashboard tracking Telegram joins, sign-ups and deposits by ad
Joinvoo dashboard tracking Telegram joins, sign-ups and deposits by ad

What Joinvoo does:

  • Tracks Telegram joins from Meta, TikTok and Snapchat ads, tied back to the ad that drove them
  • Tracks sign-ups, deposits and sales further down your funnel
  • Sends conversion events server-side so the algorithm optimises on real people, not bots or fake clicks
  • Shows you which campaigns, ad sets and ads bring people who actually join and buy

Instead of guessing which ad works, you see it. Instead of feeding the algorithm clicks, you feed it outcomes.

How Joinvoo and Replyvoo work together

The two products cover different halves of the same funnel.

Joinvoo handles the ad side. It makes sure you're buying the right traffic and that the ad platforms learn from real results.

Replyvoo handles the conversation side. When those real people arrive in your bot or channel, an AI Closer replies in seconds, qualifies them with HeatScore, follows up with Nudge, and closes with PayLink.

Put together, the loop looks like this:

  1. Ad sends a person to Telegram.
  2. Joinvoo records the join and ties it to the ad.
  3. Your Replyvoo Closer greets them instantly and answers questions.
  4. The person signs up, deposits or buys.
  5. Joinvoo sends that conversion back server-side.
  6. The ad platform learns what a real buyer looks like and finds more of them.

Better traffic in, faster conversations, more conversions out, and better signals back. Each step strengthens the next.

Practical setup checklist

  1. Map your funnel. Ad → landing page (optional) → Telegram join → first message → sign-up → payment.
  2. Set up Joinvoo on your Telegram channel or bot and connect your ad accounts.
  3. Choose your optimisation event. Start with the deepest event you get enough of each week. If purchases are rare, start with a qualified join or first message, then move deeper as volume grows.
  4. Connect Replyvoo to the same bot so every arrival gets an instant reply. See Connect a Telegram bot with BotFather.
  5. Prepare your Closer with the offer from your ads. The message in the ad and the first reply should match.
  6. Watch the first week closely in Joinvoo (which ads bring real people) and in Replyvoo Live Room (how those people behave).

Why fast replies matter for paid traffic

Even perfect traffic is wasted if nobody answers. A person who clicked your ad at 11pm and waited until morning for a reply has often cooled off. Pairing Joinvoo with an always-on Closer protects the spend you worked hard to target. More on this in Speed to lead: why the first reply wins.

Staying on the right side of the rules

Server-side tracking should be done honestly. Send only events that really happened, respect each platform's advertising and data policies, and be clear with users about how you use their data. Promote only offers allowed on each ad platform and in our acceptable use policy.
